Gaithersburg Community Overview
Nestled between Rockville and Germantown, Gaithersburg is a Montgomery County suburb of the Washington DC metropolitan area, located roughly 25 miles north of the city.
From spacious colonials to townhomes and new condos, Gaithersburg has something for everyone and for every budget. In fact, according to the City of Gaithersburg Planning and Code Administration (January 2020), there are almost as many townhomes as single-family dwellings. This makes Gaithersburg a great option for those looking for lots of living space without committing to the maintenance of a large backyard.
New construction developments such as The Chase at Quince Orchard and the Crown are abundant, allowing homebuyers to customize the home of their dreams.
Originally an agricultural settlement, Gaithersburg has maintained much of its historic charm and vast spaciousness, while adapting to modern needs and providing a range of contemporary local amenities for its residents. A variety of new mixed-use developments, shopping strips, and an easy drive to neighboring suburbs such a Rockville and Bethesda provide convenience for shopping dining, and entertainment, without the hustle and bustle of a city.
Home to many parks and beautiful lush scenery, this suburb is ideal for nature enthusiasts and those who thrive in peaceful, yet active communities. You can expect to find your neighbors enjoying their weekends at dog parks, public community events, and farmers’ markets.
Although there are town centers with shops and dining, the city itself is not very walkable and is best suited for those who like to travel by car. However, easy access to I-270, 355, and 200 makes it easy to get into the city, regional airports, and other parts of the beautiful state of Maryland.
