Kensington

Quiet suburb of DC that is hard not to love

Just a 20-minute drive outside the nation’s capital, Kensington is a quiet suburb of DC that is hard not to love. Characterized by lush greenery and abundant neighborhood parks, Kensington is ideal for those who enjoy long strolls around the neighborhood, bike rides on wooded paths, or afternoons tending to their gardens.

Although Kensington itself is rather slow-paced in nature, it’s very accessible to nearby hubs of activity. Minutes away from Bethesda, Downtown Silver Spring, Friendship Heights, and the new Pike & Rose development in North Bethesda, residents can enjoy fine dining and entertainment, knowing that they can quickly return to the serenity the town has to offer.

The real estate market offers mostly single-family detached homes, but they come in all shapes and sizes. You can expect to find anything from ramblers, to split levels, to lavish colonials. The suburb also has its fair share of expanded houses and tear-downs that have been replaced by large new construction homes. With its ideal location and variety of spacious homes, Kensington is a great alternative to its southern neighbor, Chevy Chase, for those seeking slightly more affordable price points.

Connecticut avenue runs right through the heart of the town, and it has its own I-495 exit making it easy to access regional airports and getting downtown. Plus its proximity to Beach drive makes for a scenic drive into the city.
